Happy Yom Kippur

Translation by Yehoshua Siskin

This morning, as we approach Yom Kippur, I’d like to share a short thought. This is what Rabbi Yisrael Salanter said about the day on which it's possible to begin anew:
"People do not understand that Yom Kippur is the happiest day of the year. The greatest gift I could receive would be to have another Yom Kippur in the middle of the year."
But we do not have two Yom Kippurs during the year. There is only one and it begins this evening. Gmar chatima tova, may you be inscribed in the Book of Life, and may you have a happy Yom Kippur.
