"Shalom Sivan, This is Linda from New York. I have read many of your stories on the special kindness of people in the Land of Israel. I wanted to send you something about a special kindness I recently experienced here:
Our daughter was at summer camp in Canada, a ten hour drive from New York. Several days ago, because of an urgent medical matter, she had to come home. I simply got into the car and started to drive.
At the same time, members of the 'Hatzalah' organization in Canada took care of her and began to drive her home. I met them in a place called Kiryas Yoel, 65 miles north of New York City.
But this was only the beginning. They had brought someone from Canada who would drive my car back to New York, so I could just sit with my daughter in their car and not have to drive myself.
Meanwhile, volunteers from the 'Chaverim' organization in Kiryas Yoel had prepared a three course meal for us and gave us more boxes of food to take for the road.
The volunteers from Kiryas Yoel brought us to volunteers in Flatbush (New York City) who took us to a hospital, while someone whom I did not even know drove my car back to my house...
Baruch HaShem, the condition of our daughter has improved and, so it seems, the situation of the nation of Israel is not bad at all... All this happened to me at the beginning of the month of Elul as I learned a lesson in ahavat Yisrael, the love of Jews for one another".
