“Shalom, Sivan! With all that the bad news lately, it’s important for me to share the following about a community up north. About a decade ago, we started a special initiative called, “Selichot for Children.” Beginning on Rosh Chodesh Elul, the boys and girls in the moshav wake up with excitement at 5:15 in the morning to pray together.
What “nachat”! We feel such pleasure and a sense of holiness these days as we hear the voices of children singing piyyutim (liturgical poems) and prayers together and listening to the sound of the shofar instead of the sound of sirens.
Every morning, boys and girls, mothers and fathers, Sephardim and Ashkenazim, young people hiking through Israel, soldiers in the reserves, visitors, tourists, and evacuees from across the country are coming together, united in prayer for victory in the war, the return of the hostages, and for good news all around.
May we merit seeing more videos like this (please see attached) from the Golan Heights and may our children’s prayers be accepted with love.
Kobi Vaknin”
